As the big day draws closer, your anxiety levels increase. Thing is, don't just do nothing in the lead up to the wedding, instead, do some home work on how to work a wedding as a single person. Weddings are a golden opportunity for a single person to meet new people and socialize.

Make it a night to impress, turn up looking your very best, spend the day leading up to the night pampering yourself, book in for a massage, or hit the gym so you turn up feeling refreshed and confident. Pull out your best cocktail dress or suit and make a stunning appearance.

Apart from turning up to the wedding by yourself, there is the reception afterwards which can be even more frightening as a single person. The last thing you want to be doing is sitting around looking nervous clutching your glass of champagne while the other couples are soaking up the atmosphere on the dance floor.

Heres what to do. Get to know some of the other guests before the wedding. Talk to the bride or groom about an invite to the hens or bucks night. Find out who the other singles are that will be attending and insist on being at that table. Its not all bad being single at a wedding, many new romances are forged, chances are you could end up dating one of the other guests, its the perfect environment for the singles to get to know each other.

After dinner and speeches when the dance floor starts to fill up with couples, you will suddenly feel deserted, stay calm and gather your confidence and mingle with the other guests that are also there alone. What ever you do, don't sit around without trying to engage in some conversation, step outside for a few moments to gather your thoughts, you will probably see other guests outside milling around for you to chat to.

Don't look at the night as something to be afraid of, this is a great opportunity to meet new friends. Every wedding has a component of singles attending, charge your glass, put on the charm and ask that single guy or girl sitting at your table for a dance.
